I'm drawn to socio-technical research: work that touches human lives and creates impact beyond the academic context alone. My research examines how algorithmic systems mediate human relationships and experience: from a qualitative study of home-care platforms that shape worker autonomy and the worker–client relationship, to a (currently) theoretical project arguing that the discomfort of disclosed algorithmic anticipation is best explained by “the eerie” (M. Fisher) rather than existing accounts of “creepiness” or the uncanny valley. The latter work asks what happens to attribution and agency when systems are able to model you well enough that their recommendations feel like they came from inside of you.
