Emily Wegrzyn

My research revolves around AI-mediated communication, with a focus on how people negotiate norms and values that shape generative AI use across different social contexts.

I examine how generative AI creates new possibilities for communication, while also investigating questions about what different communities consider appropriate and valuable usage. I’m particularly interested in interpersonal relationships and educational settings, where different communities may draw on different values to establish, contest, and renegotiate norms around AI-mediated communication.
